Brother Lawrence
He is a less well known Carmelite Saint, but his teaching on prayer is extraordinary and I'd like to share some of his thoughts with you.Br Lawrence joined the Order when he was 26 and was a lay brother. Most of his life was spent as the community cook and cobbler. He did not have too much time to spend in Church but he devised a way to be
continually in God's presence.

Prayer is a habit
How can we pray to Him without being with Him? How can we be with Him but in thinking of Him continually?
And how can we be continually in His presence but by making a habit of it.

Prayer is awareness
"I sought how to become wholly God's. I resolved to give the all for the All;
after having given myself wholly to God I renounced for the love of Him,
everything that was not He; and
I began to live as if there was none
but He and I in the world"

"We must know before we can love. In order to know God
 we must often think of Him and when we come to love Him
we shall then also think of Him often,
for our heart will be with our treasure."
